"Brilliant but qwerty keyboard is too small for my liking." 2009-12-02
By chascardiff (Wales UK)
I have had this phone a few days love it, proper "Big Boys Toy" but the one thing that disappoints is the keyboard, its just too small and i dont have sausage fingers, i would like to be able to use a stylus but it wont have it on this type of screen, there may be some hope in the form of the Android Marketplace where there are hundreds of applications to download.

If i find a tidy keyboard i will post here.

 "Fatastic Hero" 2009-11-22
By Martin Beecroft (Runcorn, Cheshire United Kingdom)
This is the best phone I have ever owned. It does exactly what the manufacturer claims. Very easy to set up and fabulous to use. So many apps, most free, and again easy to download and start using as they install automatically. The device will automatically revert to using wi-fi when in range once you have initially set up access on an encrypted network. This cuts download costs considerably over using 3G networks for data downloads. GPS is very accurate and easily turned on and off as required (it does drain the battery pretty quickly if used continually).

It is best synchronised with Googlemail but using it with POP3 email is a simple matter as long as you have the necessary server details from your ISP. Synchronising with Facebook and Twitter is a doddle.

The actual hardware is a perfect size to slip into a pocket, feels substantial without being over heavy and looks good. The screen is a joy and the gestures work perfectly. I would recommend a case of some sort to protect the screen from scratches, I use the HTC pouch designed for the phone. VOIP is available through a Skype app although I have not actually tried this yet. The only gripe is the camera which lacks image stabilisation, but otherwise works well. A small gripe measured against an otherwise brilliant phone

Overall an excellent bit of kit. A cheaper, and in my opinion superior, device than the iPhone. You won't be disappointed!

"HTC Hero a regretted purchase" 2009-11-20
By S. LAMONT (Suffolk, England)
Having only had this phone a matter of weeks the phone started not recognising the SIM card and therefore not communicating with the phone network. I thought it might be the SIM card so asked O2 for a replacement which they did speedily, but off course it was HTC Hero that was the problem. Because it started as an intermittent fault and then worked itself up to just not working at all, along with getting replacement SIM, meant that this faulty phone was beyond return period policy as far as Amazon was concerned.

I now am stuck with the problems of HTC service centre 'exhaustively testing the phone' and then returning it without fixing the fault, 'phone not recognising the SIM card'. Still waiting for phone to be collected a second time and hopefully it will be returned to me soon after in working order.

It is the first time I have bought an HTC, and it is one decision I regret. I should have stuck with Sony Ericcson smart phones which I have used for years without any problems whatsoever. It may not be a touch phone, but it does have a good well laid out and easy access 'address book' and the phone is very reliable.

It gets three stars for unreliablity, although a phone that does not work does not desrve any stars.

 "perfect phone" 2009-11-16
By Mr. C. Crisan (UK)
I own this phone over a month now. What can I say, just perfect.Yes is true sometimes has a bit of a lag,but that is depending of how meny applications ar running in the background.I did not have any problems to sync with the PC,but the software is just baisic.Instead I have problems to connect with the car bluetooth a Sony Xplod.I need to connect it manually almost all the time. But I love the phone and for my I think is better then the Iphone. That is my thinking. The battery life is average, with hard usage half a day,but this is the downside of a big screen. The camera below average, but I do not use use the phone to take photos,I use a Dslr for that.Very pleased with the phone.
