After owning many phones I decided to upgrade to a smartphone, this was the best decision I could have made.

It has all the office tools you could need. The phone functions are outstanding. The product rises above the standards of normal mobiles. The interface is easy to use, everything scrolls nicely with the touch of a finger. Every APP you could want is already on the phone, (unless you really, really, really, really need a spirit level as an APP !!). A slight knowledge of windows will be useful, but you will soon find your way round the controls after a day or two anyway. Don't be run of the mill when choosing a phone, get something that's a really useful tool and a fun gadget too, video, photos, documents, wi-fi, Gps, 3G, Games, Windows Mobile V6, Windows Media Player and tons more..OH!...I nearly forgot..It makes phone calls too...Buy and enjoy.

An excellent phone with the compact size is just right. Processor speed good enough to handle GPS mapping programs and graphics.

RAM is adequate to handle the windows resources as well as running programs.The wifi and edge features work equally well. I am personally a bit surprised as to why this phone is grossly underrated compared to its very flashy and highly over priced competitors. A very practical feature leaden phone which works flawlessly.

This is a very nice compact smartphone with a nice shape and feel. It is light and easy to carry. It functions well with good reception and sound quality.



Criticisms: It seems to connect to data unexpectedly and unknowingly and I find a larger than expected bill for this; I wish that in SMS & e-mail the screen would adopt a landscape mode; the keyboard is small and fiddly and requires the stylus but this is a corollary of its size. Basically very happy with it.

I am not going to mention what the god phone is but it is the overpriced one, where the people who own one get upset when you suggest there might be alternative.

Anyhow, I thought I would give the outsiders a try and bought a second hand HTC P3700 Diamond touch 'phone' (smartphone or MTA) and it has surpassed my expectations. It is snazzy, does all I could imagine or hope for (office software, tomtom satnav and all the other stuff you MAY want to use) and the phone bit of it is perfect too. It is really well put together and good looking; even the stylus has a little home in the phone itself so you don't lose it, and the internet software is helpful and intuitive. You even have a weather button for a quick forecast! I think I am going to hang on to this phone for a good while as it is quality.

I have had a large number of mobile phones over the years and in the past five years they have all been windows mobile devices, this is the first that I realy do like. The user interface is clean and simple to operate, even with stubby fingers. The battery can last a full day of fairly heavy use without the device feeling like a brick. The lack of a micro SD expansion does let the device down slightly however the built in 4GB of memory storage goes some way to making up for this. As with all windows mobile 6 devices the compact .net framework is included on the ROM providing great development opertunities, if this is your thing.



The lack of a physical keyboard makes typing word documents and emails a little more dificual as you have to rely on the on screen keypad, which can be a little clunky or you could always try the handwriting recontition, which works sometimes but my handwriting is nowhere near legible. The touch Diamond Pro (HTC T7272 Touch Pro Smartphone) includes a slide out keyboard but this increases the depth of the device. Or you could be like me and get a Celio Redfly mobile comanion (Mobile Companion (QWERTY)) giving you a full sized qwerty keyboard and a decent size screen to use whilst working with your documents and emails.

I was looking forward to getting a business phone that could be a phone, modem for my laptop, browse the internet. What I got was a device that was confused in what it was supposed to do and performs poorly ... Various issues:



1/ screen blanks when making calls on phone

2/ general terrible performance from Windows mobile op system. Just can't keep up most of the time

3/ drops calls - will ring but no phone keypad to answer it. Durrr.

4/ usually answers the call before managing to take it out of my pocket, becomes a liability.

5/ alarm clock functionality badly thought out - use volume keys to turn off!!!!!

6/ battery sucks, but knew this from initial reviews

7/ internet browsing with opera doesn't really work with zoom, seems to snap back to LHS when want to move to right.

8/ too many peripheral apps instead of concentrating on primary function. ITS A PHONE !!! the weather in Dubai is secondary....

9/ touch screen does not seem to work well. Not easy to get the options that you are trying for

1/ connectivity to laptop as modem faultless, works very well

2/ keypad v good for texting and writing

I have been using this phone for about 9 months now and it is great. I have a 16gb micro hcsd card in it which alows me to run Copilot 7 on the phone whilst listening to audio books (Audible) and acepting the occasional phone call. Oh and I have more than 8GB of storage left for my MP3 collection. The screen is good enough to read ebooks during long flights.



The problem of rejecting phone calls whist in the pocket has been solved with the latest ROM update and a slider instead of a button press to accept or reject calls.



The keyboard is a great improvement over the TYTN2 as there is a seperate row of number keys. Emails are a breeze.



Cons. Opera will occasionally not do things, because it does not support Java or something like that. But when it does fall down I switch to Internet Explorer which is of course included in Windows Mobile 6.1

I so wanted to fall in love with this phone, but the damned thing is just too slow and temperamental.



Take the iWannabe touchFlo interface which is, like, really cool. For about five minutes, after which you get fed up to the back teeth waiting for it to respond. Scrolling between tabs takes an age and often freezes. Attempting to navigate webpages on the woeful Opera random-zoom browser is hell on earth - it's got a mind of its own.



I couldn't believe the phone-answering-in-the-pocket business could be true, but - yup - HTC have designed a touch sensitive screen that becomes active in your pocket and rejects precisely 100% of your incoming calls. That must be number one thing on the "we're designing a touch screen phone: which problems are we likely to encounter?" list. Incredible.



Another maddening design aspect is the contoured Diamond back. You would have though this might serve some ergonomic purpose; but when you pull the keyboard out and place the phone on a flat surface it actually tilts away from you and rocks around making typing impossible. Uh?! The keyboard itself, although it feels like it is going to snap off the phone any time soon, is really very good indeed.



All that said, you can tweak this thing into quite a pretty good phone. The Answerkeys Disabler app solves the pocket problem. The TF3D Config app improves the TouchFlo performance no end. Using Internet Explorer over Opera gives more reliable browsing experience. As with all WinMO phones syncs with Outlook work like a dream. The screen, while a mite small at 2.5", is very sharp and bright.



I very nearly sent this phone back but have learned to cope with it. It's just a real shame it takes days of twiddling to get the thing working to its full potential. That's not really what you hope for in a ear-bleedingly expensive phone.

After owning this phone for 8 weeks I am amazed how awful it is, if ever there is a case for "not fit for purpose" this phone is it.



HTC have tried so hard to create a slick graphic interface that they seem to have forgetten that this is in fact a phone, not just a screen with lots of pretty pictures, and it is as a phone that this device completely lacks any user friendliness.



This phone cannot perform the task of making and receiving calls with any reliability. The phone dialler interface has been designed without any thought.



The most annoying aspect of the phone is the inclusion of a large on-screen "END CALL" button, which is posibly the most stupid and pointless idea I have ever encountered on a phone. THIS IS A MAJOR FAULT WITH THE PHONE because you can't put the phone to your ear without rejecting a call, also if the phone is in your pocket, or in a case the phone will ALWAYS REJECT A CALL.



HTC must have found the same problem when they tested the phone, so instead of redesigning the inteface they have just disabled the screen as soon as a call is answered, making dealing with other incoming calls or checking messages very difficult. Words cannot discribe how useless this very expensive device is as a phone.



Is there anything about this phone that I like..hmmm lets think...no.



It crashes, the user interface is a step back from the previous one, the phone often needs restting, the reception is awful, the speaker is almost silent, the glossy case gets grubby almost instantly, GPS connection is slow causing Satnav software to lag, the Music player will not sync with Windows media player, the keyboard is buggy, battery life is poor, the on screen keyboard changes from alpha numeric to Qwerty and sync with Outlook can be problematic.



In summation, I have owned and used PDA's for around 7 years now, and this smartphone has to be the most awful device I have ever owned. I am so fed up with it I have begun using my old phone.

My main gripe with this phone is the touch screen. It is not sensitive enough. There is a lag when you try to text or choose things from the menu. The Screen looks lovely though and all my films look great on it. It is not a very finger friendly phone, I have to use the stylus a lot more than I would like. I hope the HD2 is better; I'll wait for the reviews before I buy though.

 "Frustratingly Over-Sold and Under-Supported Hunk of xxxx" 2009-11-05

I've had this PDA now for just under 12-months and in that time it has only worked fully for about 2-months. During the course of my ownership SMS-Messaging has failed; on-line video rendering has failed; it has burned out two MicroSD Cards and required 2-battery replacements.



While the device is primarily intended for a touch-screen market; the sensitivity of the resistive screen (or lack thereof) can make some interactions very difficult without having to rely on the provided stylus. But, be warned - even with the lightest of touches with the supplied stylus; the screen is prone to scratching and will require the regular replacement of screen-protectors.



I don't doubt there are many delighted owners who have thoroughly enjoyed having this bright and shiny new toy; however, it's worth bearing in mind that there remain several question marks over the performance of some elements of its Operating System and general functionality. Windows Mobile 6.1 is problematic and while HTC attempts to mask those problems with their own proprietary interface; only so much can be done to make a silk-purse out of a sow's ear.



When it does work; it can be a real asset - but its reliability falls very much short of what one would expect for device in this price-range.



Of particular note is HTC's woeful Customer Support. In each of the faults I've listed above; HTC's only recommendation is to try a Soft Reset (which failed each and every time) followed by a Hard Reset, which unless you're very careful to back-up all your data and personal settings you will lose and can take in one instance up to 5-hours to reset. HTC seem to regard the proposition of replacing a clearly defecting piece of equipment as beneath them (I've been told repeatedly that it is not "policy" to replace their devices) and have insisted that the device go in for repair. Each time it has been returned to them it has come back (between 3 to 6 weeks lead-time) with the fault unresolved. What they must imagine you're supposed to do for mobile telephony while they're supposedly fixing the problem is anyone's guess.



For a device that allegedly thrives on its adaptability, connectivity and personal customisation; it promises a great deal... However; over time I have found it singularly one of the most frustrating pieces of kit I've ever laid my hands on and that frustration has only been compounded by HTC's ambivalent, incompetant and, dare I say it, complacent approach to Customer Relations.



Buyer beware - HTC's bid for mobile supremacy with this device has its flaws and in my experience; that bid comes very much at your expense - both in terms of money; time and inconvenience. HTC had the recipe for an awesome meat pie; then made it with dog-meat... A real shame.

First of all i would like to point out that is a brilliant product, but beware, buy a case with it! i've had this phone coming up for a year now and it'sbeen sent back twice. the first time was in dubai, wild wadi and i dropped it out the locker. the screen shattered rendering it useless! it cost 140 quid to repair so just do the right thing and buy a silicone case for it! i've dropped quite a few times befare the fatal accident, but this time it landed wrong! after that incident, i brought a case. the second time was when the phone suffered from water damage, however i am pleased to report that it didn't cost me a penny! what i think happened was the case collected water and then soaked the mobile! oh well!

as for the phone, well, i love it! windows mobile is a bit fiddly at first, but i got used to it fast. it does everything it is claimed to do quite well. the camera isn't quite as impressive as the phone, however. 99% of my pics were blurred. also, the accelerometer (thing that makes the screen rotate to the way the phone is being held) doesn't work on most apps. it works on opera and album, but doesn't work on excel which i find quite annoying. the screen is very large and the resolution is great. tied up between this and an iphone? well, iphone is more of a play phone. it isn't really a 'serious' phone. i got this because; the camera is higher resolution, work with microsoft word, excel and powerpoint and has a bigger screen.

I bought this phone after a lot of research and reading all the reviews on it. I am a mobile engineer and I had a Nokia N96 plus a HP 114 PDA and a Garmin Mobile 20 Satnav System and I was looking to incorporate all into one device.

I love this HTC phone. It just looks so good and after having it in full use 6 days a week it does perform so well. I bought the new TomTom 8 with European maps for the device and it works a treat. This device has taken all the hassle out of my communications and running my database of clients and organising my diary which is essential to my daily running.

I was concerned after reading one review which is on the Amazon site but I can tell you that I have not found this to be the case. On the contrary, I found the touch screen to be brilliant and easy to use. As for locking the device, simple, you just press the on/off button for a fraction of a second and the device goes into lockdown. All you have to do to unlock is repeat the process and you phone is back.

In short. This is a tremendous phone. Its well designed and put together and performs superbly. I just can't say enough about this phone. I have been very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

This is the third item I have had in recent years working on a version of Windows mobile, this is by far the best, I know Windows mobile is not well recieved by many reviewers but if it is what you need to do your business having the touch flo front page on the HTC is an enormous improvement on usability, the features and functions on this phone, if phone is not too simplistic a word for this bit of technology, are fantastic, the large screen is very clear and easy to read, the input from the on screen qwerty keyboard is very easy to use even with my old fat fingers. I highly recooment this unit for anyone needing a good mini pc and phone.

The worst phone I have experienced. HTC has tried to outdo the iphone but without understanding its functionality and the result is a complete mess. Leaving aside its hefty weight, these are the worst features:

a) When receiving an incoming call you need to slide a green "toutch bar" to the right or left, then press "accept" or "reject". If you get it slightly wrong, or don't look at the phone while doing it, the call is rejected. I have had six incoming (!) calls "rejected" this way, one after the other...

b) To call, you need to press a button at the top to turn on, then another button on the bottom to get the dial pad, then dial. Two more key presses than you'd need on "normal" phone.

c) You can dial numbers accidentally just by your finger brushing the surface when putting the phone down on your desk. This has happened several times.



The list goes on and on. I strongly recommend you avoid this phone at all costs.

After having this phone for around 4 months, I think its time to write a review, this was my first touchscreen phone, so after the initial excitement of touching the screen and the phone reacting subsided, I was left with a mediocre piece of hardware.



Windows Mobile 6.1 does not help the phone in any way shape or form, its slow and tends to freeze. Also, when using the very nice keypad to write a text or email, the signal tends to go, after you try sending the text, your left with a message saying the text cannot be sent - now any other phone, this isn't a problem because as soon as the signal has returned, the text message is sent automatically, with this phone, it is not the case, you must either re-write what you have previously written or forward the text, which equals alot of messing around with options.



The ringing tone and message tone aren't anything spectacular either, when playing music back, it seems louder than the ringtone, I have missed many calls because of this, 9/10 I only get the call because the phone vibrates. The alarm is also the same, a second of a beep 3 or 4 times and then it automatically selects snooze - not good for the heavy sleepers.



The phone does come with 3-4 pretty good apps, Youtube being the best - so long as your connected to mobile internet or a decent wi-fi service. Bluetooth is also included but seems quite slow for some reason.



I've given this a 6/10 as I'm finding it hard to write about any good points about the phone.

This is a pretty impressive albeit expensive bit of kit. It looks and feels well built and exudes quality. The screen is excellent and the keyboard a great benefit if you dont like using the stylus. The range of software and power user functionality is very good indeed.

However it is very bulky and heavy and as a phone handset it is rubbish. Whenever I am making calls I have difficultyu hearing and being heard even in strong reception areas. In particular if you move or tilt the handset away from your mouth to any degree you become effectively disconnected.

If you need the power of Windows Mobile in an industrial strength set you can't do better but if you just want great media capabilities, internet access and a good phone look elsewhere.

Overall this is definitely a good device. Lovely big touchscreen, great hardware, nice physical keyboard. TouchFlo 3D looks fantastic, and is well designed software.



Only two niggles are that the screen is very reflective so hard to view in bright light, and the software is a bit rough around the edges and crashes occasionally. Perhaps also a little expensive.



Overall good, 4 stars.

Its a BRICK. its weighs a ton and doesn't sit as well in your pocket as other phones.

The USB phone jack.... what are you thinking HTC!!!!!!!!???????

Battery life is rubbish... don't go far without your charger.
